disABILITYsa and Texas A&M San Antonio have collaboratively developed—a curriculum that reshapes how researchers engage with individuals with disabilities. This curriculum not only promotes inclusion but prioritizes genuine collaboration and co-creation, enabling researchers to gain a deeper understanding of the lived experiences of people with disabilities. The goal is to enhance both the relevance and the impact of their research projects.
We are hosting an IN PERSON training session for this new curriculum, titled EmpowerAccess, on Friday, May 10th, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This session is designed to equip researchers with the necessary skills and insights to implement this approach.

The DD will forge new relationships to build disABILITYsa’s visibility, in-kind, and financial resources. The DD will also design and implement a comprehensive plan for developing key external alliances by supporting the ED in cultivating individual and philanthropic support. The DD has the primary responsibility for establishing and implementing the infrastructure needed to support a growing $580,000 annual budget through the solicitation of individual donations, major gifts, government grants, special events, corporate and foundation support. The DD will foster and promote a Culture of Giving throughout the organization among Board members, staff, interns, volunteers, partner agencies, the individuals we serve, and the local community. The DD will expand and diversify disABILITYsa’s donor base/pipeline and work closely with other team members to secure funding for new programs and initiatives. In addition, the DD will work closely with the board of directors and support board members as they actively participate in their fundraising role.
