SA CLIMATE READY ACTION & ADAPTATION PLAN
WHY DISABILITYSA IS INVOLVED:The SA Climate Ready Plan, adopted on October 17, 2019, is a roadmap for enhancing our community’s quality of life and overall resilience while balancing the impact of our expected growth of 1.1 million people by 2040 against the protection of our economic, environmental, and social resources.
disABILITYsa works to amplify the considerations of people with disabilities at the planning tables in the San Antonio community. Participating in climate action planning ensures that the needs, challenges, and contributions of people with disabilities are considered. This leads to a more inclusive and equitable climate plan that caters to the entire community. PHASE I: Between May and September of 2021, disABILITYsa partnered with the city to collect information and feedback through a survey to help leaders understand the views and opinions of San Antonio’s disability community, who are presumed to experience the ‘first and worst’ consequences of climate change – and what their attitudes and awareness are about climate change and the human impact on the planet.
