Mary Jane Clark Giving Circle
The Mary Jane Clark Giving Circle recognizes donors who make a sustaining gift of $25/month or more or an annual gift of at least $300. These contributions honor and reflect the legacy of Mary Jane Clark, a woman who devoted herself to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities.
As a child, Mary Jane Clark contracted polio and had first-hand experience of living with a physical disability. In the 1940s, Mary Jane became passionate about moving people with disabilities out of institutions and into jobs and homes in the community. Dissatisfied with the programs she saw in the U.S., she and her husband traveled to 12 other countries looking for a better model of inclusion. Her work became the basis for revised legislation in Wisconsin that created opportunities for people with all types of disabilities.
Mary Jane passed away in 2019 at the age of 100. Her legacy lives on through the work of disABILITYsa and the donors who faithfully invest in our mission through a monthly or annual gift.
