The Vax-abilitySTRONG Education and Outreach Campaign program provides the San Antonio/Bexar County disability community with information about COVID-19 vaccines and addresses concerns and barriers around receiving a vaccine.
Disability Confidence Training [Est. 2018]
Disability confidence training helps people learn how to interact with and support individuals with disabilities in a positive and respectful way. It teaches about different types of disabilities, how to communicate effectively, and how to make environments more accessible. The training aims to remove barriers and change attitudes, so everyone feels included and valued. It also helps businesses and organizations understand the benefits of being more inclusive. Overall, disability confidence training makes sure that everyone can participate fully in all areas of life.
Disability-Friendly Healthcare Environments Workshop [Est. 2023]
One in every seven people in San Antonio lives with a disability. This disABILITYsa Disability-friendly Provider Workshop will take Pharmacists, Physicians, and Clinicians through a 2.5-hour meaningful learning experience outlining the types of disabilities and associated access issues, participating in problem-finding exercises, exploring the clinical perspective, and an overview of various strategies, tools, and resources for creating more disability-friendly environments. Eligible participants can receive 3.5 CEUs and a disability-friendly starter kit.

This training program equips event organizers with strategies to enhance accessibility and inclusivity for various gatherings, from community festivals to corporate conferences. Participants will learn about Universal Design principles and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for compliance and best practices. The curriculum covers venue and vendor selection, communication, transportation, access statements, and on-site support tailored to diverse needs. Attendees will also learn to implement accommodations for individuals with disabilities and utilize assistive technologies to ensure full accessibility.
EmpowerACCESS Researcher Training [Est. 2024]
EmpowerACCESS is a training program designed to equip researchers with the skills to engage in community-based participatory research (CBPR) that is inclusive for all participants. This workshop covers essential topics such as understanding disability diversity, the fundamentals of CBPR, and ethical considerations in research. Participants will learn how to develop clear and accessible informed consent documents and create effective research action plans that promote community involvement.
Disability-Friendly Museums Workshop [Est. 2024]
disABILITYsa offers a training program aimed at helping museums enhance their accessibility and inclusivity. This program equips museum staff with essential knowledge about disability awareness, accessible exhibit design, and inclusive programming. Participants will learn practical strategies to create welcoming environments for all visitors, ensuring that everyone can fully engage with and enjoy the museum experience

The training provides educators with essential knowledge and strategies for creating inclusive learning environments. Participants will explore Universal Design for Learning (UDL) standards, Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE), and the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans. Teachers will learn accommodations and modifications to support diverse learners, including those with disabilities, while addressing different learning styles and multiple intelligences to adapt their instruction effectively.
