Dr. Steven Gonzalez, Clinical Director of South Texas Behavioral InstituteDesigned to provide the participant with an insight to sexuality and how it manifests itself within children/young adults with disabilities. The participant will learn about sexuality for youth, the psychological development of sexuality, approaches to understanding sexuality, education and victimization. Strategies will be discussed about education and the role it plays on shaping youth with disabilities and their sexuality. While this subject is sensitive to many parents, a solid general overview of psychosocial, emotional, physiological and cultural approaches will be discussed. Child Care Option Available

Presenter: Marianna Bond, M.Ed. ATP is a special education consultant and nationally certified Assistive Technology Practioner/Professional. She is also the parent of two wonderful children who are on the autism spectrum. Her 25-year-old daughter, Christina, has moderate to severe Asperger Syndrome and several other health conditions and is currently a senior at Texas Woman’s University. Her 20-year-old son, Travis, is currently a junior at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri and was diagnosed at 27 months with autism but he has overcome the difficulties associated with his autism. He also has several additional health concerns. Marianna has been involved in the field of autism for the past 18 years and has worked as an active advocate, speaker, and educator.
This session provides an overview of the iPad including basic operation and maintenance, available applications for individuals with disabilities of all ages and options for augmentative alternative communication (AAC) applications for individuals who are low- or non-verbal. This will be an interactive session, and participants are encouraged to bring their iPad, iTouch, or iPhone to the session.

For many, dealing with family members is a major cause of caregiver stress. Dr. Smith will help sort out issues such as:

- "My brother lives 500 miles away, I'm here and I think I know what's best for mom and dad."

Combining her gift of teaching and motivating others with
her interest in food and cooking, nutrition consultant and
personal chef for families with special diet needs, Letty
earned her executive MBA at the University of Texas at San
Antonio. A gluten-free coach, Letty, her husband Patrick,
and their two kids have been successfully living gluten-free
for several years. It is this life experience that makes her
counseling advice more realistic and practical.
